"The Best-Kept Secret in SF" -- 12/14/2004

I believe that's what Mike Resnick called Mark Bourne, and this story, the one that launched his career when it appeared in Fantasy and Science fiction about 11 years ago, is ample illustration why. The writing is deceptively simple and transparent, leading you into a very lovely and human story. Well, partly human anyhow.
