Ardath Mayhar is the author of sixty novels, forty of them published. She began her career in 1979 with science fiction novels from Doubleday and TSR. Atheneum published several of her young adult and children's novels. Changing focus, she wrote westerns (as Frank Cannon) and mountain man novels (as John Killdeer). Four prehistoric Indian books under her own name came out from Berkley.
Among the works she has authored or co-authored are Exile on Vlahil; Far Horizons; High Mountain Winter; How the Gods Wove in Kyrannon; Khi to Freedom; A Road of Stars; Runes of the Lyre; the collections The Collected Stories of Ardath Mayhar, Mean Little Old Lady at Work and Dark Regions; and the poetry collections Journey To an Ending and Reflections.
Now in her seventies, Mayhar works in her home office, teaching writing for a national correspondence school, doing book doctoring professionally, and writing and marketing short fiction.
